304. October 3, 2023 - A splash page has to be carefully used. Too many splash pages, and you might just have a picture book. I think I'm well backed here by scholarship on the subject when I say that such a phenomenon hardly describes a comic. Comics usually have a larger number of pictures on a page. It could be 3 or 4, if you work in mainstream comics, or average around 7 if it's an indie comic, or work with a nine picture grid if it's a traditional Silver Age comic, or it could have 16 if you're Frank Miller. I generally try not to be a picture book or Frank Miller. Both are frightening to me.
